From ~3400 BC to today: a journey through history

~3400 BC

In Tomb 15 at Beni Hasan, located at the necropolis of the ancient Egyptian city of Menat Khufu, 20 kilometers south of modern Minya, murals depicting battle scenes have been discovered. They represent the oldest known artwork showing some form of combat.

1882

June 5 is officially considered the founding date of the Kodokan, with the opening of the first dojo in Eisho-ji, featuring only 12 tatami mats and 9 students, in the Shimoya district of Tokyo.

1922

In September, Morihei Ueshiba received the Kyoju Dairi from Master Takeda, the instructor qualification for Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu. Ueshiba’s technique became known as aikibujutsu, better known as Ueshiba-ryu Aikibujutsu.

1981

On April 12, at the age of 92, Mestre Pastinha played his last roda. A few months later, on November 13, he died, abandoned in a municipal hospice.
